Denormalised smoker

This is a photo of a man who the Righteous want to denormalise. They don't care that he is forced out of restaurants, pubs, cafes no matter what the weather. Wind, rain, sub-zero temps, snow ... the Righteous don't care. They don't care that he only has one leg ... out he goes.

The Righteous and their acolytes insult and pore scorn on him and others like him.The Righteous rant about their right to be smoke free but say nothing about this man's rights because to them he doesn't have any.

Oh, who is he? He's William Guarnere, otherwise known as Wild Bill Guarnere and now 87 years old. Former WW2 Paratrooper ....  Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne ... Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts. He lost his leg at the Battle of the Bulge whilst trying to rescue his wounded friend who also had his leg blown off.

Recognise the name? He was portrayed in the HBO series Band of Brothers.

lf any of the Righteous are reading this ... you make me puke!

  4. They were a bloody embarrassment, Wild Bill isn't. How the fuck can we treat our veterans like this? lt's a fucking disgrace.

  5. It is a fucking disgrace. So why then don't get more involved over fighting back this illiberal smoking ban. The case against SHS was a pure fraud and the false pretense upon which it was built. Force that into the limelight and maybe heroes like the above can be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve again. Otherwise it is only going to get worse.

  6. Reminds me of Smoking Hots quote
    23 October 2010

"I had the honour of taking D-Day veterans back to Normandy this July courtesy of Heroes Return. What follows is a conversation that l was party too. Don't judge them by the swearing either, they were in each others company and no ladies or children were present. lf they had been present they would've behaved like the gentlemen they are.
"Later on when l'd taken them to bar and we were sat out in the sun having a beer ... and a smoke, one of the vets said " Y'know, l used to enjoy a pint and a smoke at the pub but it's not worth going anymore. Hardly anyone goes. When l have been and l want a smoke l've got to shuffle out on these fucking sticks. Doesn't matter if it's pouring with rain, blowing a gale, fucking snowing ... out i'll fucking go"
He went on "What really pisses me off is all them fucking anti-smoking cunts. They say it's better for me, it's healthier, it's for my own good ... l'm 85 for ffs!"

His mate replied " Makes you wonder why we bothered, fucking fascists won in the end"

  7. Yes Banned, indeed it does and l thought it would be perfect rehashed a little for Wild Bill. Was a great experience with the old boys, l was honoured to take them. l'm ashamed of the way my country treats them.

And then do not use the smoke free pubs THEY have "created". If they did, as their whining suggested before the ban, they WOULD, then pubs would have ample customers among non smokers.

    Or have they anothjer...."agenda".....?

(Rhetorical question. Incase you were wondering.)

Leaving aside the fact that you weren't fighting fascism but rather for Caspian Oil Rights (oh sorry, did you think that Oil Wars were a recent invention?) the fascists didn't win. Rather we all became fascists.

Mea Culpa, they-a culpa, we are all fucking culpa!

By our actions or indifference we have built a country where anything not condoned by the 'Hard Working Right Thinking British' Daily Fail reader is a crime or should be banned.

The poppy burners aren't the ones making a mockery of the soldiers' (in Daily Mail Speak 'Our Brave Boys') sacrifice in the fight for freedom....

  11. both my grand parents are now dead, they died of lung cancer, after the war they ran a pub until they were too old to do it any more, but never smoked. In those days the cigarettes of choice were senior service or capstan, quite rough I'm told. In the earlies 90's when they died the link had yet to proven. To me the thought of the ban is shame it didn't come in sooner so I could have known them some more and they could have had a fuller retirement. During the war my grandmother worked making shells in a cordite factory and my grandfather flew sortees over Normandy.

  12. That's wishful thinking but l don't blame you for it. Most of us like something or someone to blame when we lose a loved one.My family all ran pubs but have now retired. My sisters were born in one .... 2 dont smoke and never have and the third one smokes. ln all there were 3 landlords and all had pubs from the 50's. One is now 80, another 84 and the other 90. All are well and active.

My cousin who lived in the country with non smoking parents died at the age of 38 through cancer. She never smoked and drank very little.

There is no guarantees with life. lt's cruel and unpredictable despite what the Righteous preach. Dont resent the loss ... celibrate their lives. l'm sure they'd want you to.

    Amen.

My Died-Before-He-Could-Marry-Sister Brother-in-law was exactly one year younger than me; he was a devout 'German Green' (the worst sort of Tree Hugger), never smoked, barely drank, kept fit and was a veggie. He woke one morning with a lump in his leg and died screaming 12 months later. He wasn't even 21.

If the ban had come in sooner your grandpa and grandma probably would have had to sell up due to lack of custom and faced their longer pension years in penury.

  15. The Righteous will get really pissed off when some are told they are going to die before their 'promised' extended life. Maybe they;ll sue such as ASH :-)

    ReplyDelete
  16. From July 2007 onward, anyone having cancer should sue ASH indeed. They promised long endless eternal life and no more cancer, so the right to sue seems evident.

"In the eyes of the Tribunal the review letter contained several preconceptions, prejudgments and non-sequiturs"

"the absurdity of this reason is demonstrated by simply stating it"

"We therefore find that Mr Sked misdirected himself as to the Policy in carrying out the review and his decision is therefore one that no reasonable review officer could have arrived at."

... commonly known here at N2D as 'Skeds' ... that is to say these are Judges comments regarding UKBA Review Officer Ian Sked's reasons for rejecting peoples appeals against seizures.
