  4. Story I:
A certain 5 star hotel I stay at in Germany for work.

I have checked in, and when I reached my room, I saw that it was non-smoking.

I called reception and explained things. They said they'd send someone up.

Ah, to move my bags, I thought.

    He bore an ashtray.

    Story II:
My sister an antismoker, booked me into the ****** ***, a five star hotel in Sydney. All rooms non-smoking, fine $300. Taking the lift downstairs to have a fag, I noticed that it was a $100 fine to smoke in the lifts. Which is what I did. I really should have left some prawn waste in a bag somewhere as that was not specifically prohibited.

Punish any antismoking establishment with all you've got. These pussies are as bad as Barlett.

The Swissotel in Sydney has smoking rooms and is a splendid hotel. They deserve a plug.

  5. Nice to see other rebels exist.

SBC ... listened to that on i-player. They intend to put their trust in technology hahahaha. No doubt they'll ignore technology to continue to rob cross-border shoppers though.

  6. SH, my thoughts exactly. They are obviously counting on technology to free up man power for more 'profitable' things...like robbing shoppers and stealing their cars.

One thing glared out at me, although I may have misheard it as I was cooking at the time. One of the Skeds spoke about 'our contractors carrying out checks'.

Does mean that the UKBA actually contract out 'border control' work, ie 'warranted' work??! So the Skeds in fetching yellow reflective jackets aren't even 'proper' UKBA Officers but agency wage slaves??!

That would go a long long way to explaining some things...like the level of sheer mind numbing stoopidity demonstrated by some supposed UKBA'ers.

  7. SBC ... I believe the contractors do the scanning etc of freight vehicles but not the subsequent questioning if anything found.

"In the eyes of the Tribunal the review letter contained several preconceptions, prejudgments and non-sequiturs"

"the absurdity of this reason is demonstrated by simply stating it"

"We therefore find that Mr Sked misdirected himself as to the Policy in carrying out the review and his decision is therefore one that no reasonable review officer could have arrived at."

... commonly known here at N2D as 'Skeds' ... that is to say these are Judges comments regarding UKBA Review Officer Ian Sked's reasons for rejecting peoples appeals against seizures.
