  1. I travel a lot and even though l only have a small cabin size flight bag get stopped more times than l care to remember. It's always the men and they are more interested in my knickers than cigs. Heidi

  2. My wife understands this all too well. She's a stunning lady and like you travelled a great deal with her profession from UK to another country in the EU.

Her luggage too was only the small flight case but that didn't stop UK Customs searching it on more than one occassion. She also says they were more interested in her knickers.

Maybe the ones who do this see it as a perk of the job? :-)

  4. Walkabout ... yes, by using the terms like 'going to court' etc makes the average traveller panic. They think they've done something illegal ...afterall isn't the Customs Officer telling them this? ... and he should know shouldn't he?... Yes, he should know bloody well better!

l hate hearing reports like yours. Not only do l believe it's unethical ... it's just so damn wrong.

Bet your grandad didn't get a confiscation form as Customs are legally obliged to do, did he? l doubt he did, he just left them with a man in a uniform. Wonder what happened to them?

"In the eyes of the Tribunal the review letter contained several preconceptions, prejudgments and non-sequiturs"

"the absurdity of this reason is demonstrated by simply stating it"

"We therefore find that Mr Sked misdirected himself as to the Policy in carrying out the review and his decision is therefore one that no reasonable review officer could have arrived at."

... commonly known here at N2D as 'Skeds' ... that is to say these are Judges comments regarding UKBA Review Officer Ian Sked's reasons for rejecting peoples appeals against seizures.
